WIMTACH helps SMEs in the healthcare industry convert their innovative ideas into products by providing them access to expert faculty members, skilled researchers, skilled students, laboratories, and&nbsp;state-of-the-art&nbsp;equipment at Centennial College.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Project:<\/strong> Autonomous Drone Fleet for Dynamic Agricultural Shading (SkyArc Project)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Position Summary: <\/strong>We are seeking one Software Student Researcher to support the software and control systems development of an autonomous drone fleet for dynamic agricultural shading applications.<br>This role focuses on ground station software, drone communication systems, formation control algorithms, firmware support, and drone-to-ground connectivity. The student will help develop the software responsible for managing drone deployment, formation of flight, telemetry monitoring, and safe drone coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:0;padding-left:0\"><strong>Duties and Responsibilities Include&nbsp;but&nbsp;Are Not Limited To:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assist in developing ground control station software for drone fleet management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support communication and connectivity between drones and the control system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help develop formation control algorithms for autonomous drone deployment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with telemetry monitoring, command transmission, and collision avoidance logic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support firmware integration for drone stabilization and motor control systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in testing and validation of software functionality and system performance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to technical reports, documentation, and software optimization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key Competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Currently enrolled in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interest in robotics, embedded systems, UAV software, or control systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong problem-solving and debugging skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good verbal and written communication skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group left-border-green is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\" style=\"padding-right:0;padding-left:0\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Specific Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The applicant must be a current\/returning student from Centennial College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants should be currently enrolled in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preferred additional experience includes familiarity with Python, C++, embedded systems, robotics, control systems, drone communication systems, telemetry monitoring, and software development for autonomous systems.
