WIMTACH is located at the Progress Centennial College campus at 941 Progress Avenue. The WIMTACH Centre is adjacent to the Applied Research and Innovation Centre. The block number for WIMTACH is D2-02.

A Technology Access Centre (TAC) is a centre that helps Canadian businesses, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises to advance their products, ideas and services by initiating applied research projects that include specialized technical services, expertise and training opportunities. WIMTACH offers non-dilutive funding from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) – College and Community Innovation Program and Ontario Centre of Excellence – College Voucher and Technology Adoption (CVTA). NSERC grants are designed for eligible Canadian colleges to use their knowledge, expertise and capabilities to undertake exciting research projects in collaboration with private-sector companies. There are two funding grants that WIMTACH offers: NSERC-Engage and NSERC-Applied Research and Development (ARD). NSERC-Engage projects are worth $25,000 each and applications for them take a few weeks to process. These projects are usually six months long. NSERC-ARD projects worth $75,000-$150,000 and applications for them take a few months to process. These projects are usually one to three years long. The CVTA program connects eligible Ontario for-profit and incorporated companies with Ontario colleges with the expertise and resources to solve their business and innovation challenges. Through this program, college faculty and students serve as consultants for WIMTACH industry partners to solve industry challenges related to innovation and technology adoption. This program is available on an annual basis. A successful application means that a college receives up to $250,000 for a bundle of vouchers valued at $10,000 each. If the college is successful applying for CVTA funding, that college can grant its industry partners with a voucher valued at $10,000. Each project has a duration of up to 12 months. WIMTACH industry partners have access to WIMTACH proposal writing services in order to secure dilutive or non-dilutive funding for an applied research project. WIMTACH works with the partner’s project team to acquire all components of the funding application. Once the application has been submitted, WIMTACH is expected to receive the verdict of the application in four weeks’ time or longer.

WIMTACH offers industry partners proposal writing services to position themselves for successful application for applied research project funding. WIMTACH has skilled proposal writing staff that works closely with industry partner representatives in order to gather all requirements needed for the application and to ensure information accuracy. WIMTACH has a convenient e-package of all documents and forms needed to complete the chosen granting stream. After it is sent to the industry partner, WIMTACH staff are available to answer questions, clarify statements and confirm information. Each application has a two-week life cycle; that is, every proposal has a deadline of two weeks after the partnership with WIMTACH has been confirmed. This is to ensure that a project will start in a timely manner and to account for possible delays. The first week involves completing forms and documents that are necessary to the applications and sending them via email to the WIMTACH team. The second week involves revisions and ultimately, submission to the granting body.
