Empowering Retail Innovation and Transformation

The Centre for Explainable Data Analytics (CEDA), a research division of WIMTACH, backed by funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). CEDA is dedicated to fostering the growth of intelligent systems for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the retail sector. CEDA’s mission is to facilitate the adoption of innovative data analytics methodologies and technologies among Canadian retailers. The focus is on the development of cost-effective, tailored, explainable, and responsible analytics solutions. These solutions aim to optimize operations, enhance customer understanding, inventory management etc. The CEDA team have expertise in advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence, software engineering, data warehousing, cloud technologies, data mining etc. In addition, CEDA conducts regular trainings on retail analytics and data analytics for students, professionals, retail business owners and new entrepreneurs.

Work with CEDA!

CEDA offers students direct experiential learning opportunities, preparing them to become highly qualified professionals equipped for careers in the data analytics/AI sector, an industry characterized by its innovation intensity. Faculty members at Centennial College, through their involvement in CEDA projects, gain insights into the evolving technology needs of retailers. This knowledge enables them to deliver industry-relevant and high-quality education in their classrooms.

Body-computer interface (BCI)
A system that enables direct communication between the human body and a computer or external device. By interpreting signals from the body, BCIs can monitor physiological data or even control devices, providing advanced solutions for health monitoring, rehabilitation, and enhanced human-computer interaction.
Textile-based hardware design and fabrication
This part of our R&D activities, refers to the creation of electronic devices that are seamlessly integrated into textiles, allowing them to be wearable or embedded into fabrics for applications such as health monitoring, diagnostics, or therapeutic solutions.
Sensor integration
Sensor integration refers to embedding a variety of sensors into a system to capture and measure key physiological data, such as heart rate, temperature, and movement. By incorporating these sensors into wearable or remote devices, we enable comprehensive health monitoring, offering real-time insights and diagnostics from a distance.
E-textile durability testing
We perform extensive durability testing on our e-textiles, including tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and chemical exposure tests. These assessments ensure that our products maintain performance and reliability under various conditions, making them suitable for long-term use in healthcare applications.
