WIMTACH is hiring an Image Processing Software Developer for an applied research project. The applicant must be a former/returning student from Centennial College.

As a Full Stack Developer, the candidate must be comfortable with both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks and third-party libraries. The candidate should also be a team player with a knack for visual design and utility. Knowledge of mobile app development, image processing and Agile methodology would be a definite asset.

Dates: July 2020 – December 2020
Employment Details:
- 24 hours/week during summer and fall semesters
- $15/hour
Location: Primarily Progress Campus and WIMTACH Office
Position Summary:
Develop an image processing-based mobile application which collects images, scans specific image zones to extract information, and send to a cloud for machine learning and analytics. Along with full stack development, the potential candidate will also get an opportunity to learn new skills in exploratory data analytics, image processing and machine learning. The developed solution will go through threat assessment, rigorous testing and secure hosting on client servers. This position will primarily entail developing the mobile and web application. This will include the initial design, coding, testing and debugging of the application.
Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Literature Review, Market survey and reporting
- Image Processing Algorithm development
- Creating tables using SQL
- Managing the in-house client/server software
- Designing application programmable interfaces (APIs)
- Testing and debugging software, Conducting usability tests
- Project demonstrations and Writing project reports
- Attending regular status update meetings
Key Competencies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to consistently meet development deadlines
- Excellent software development skills including design, coding, testing and debugging
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role
- Experience developing desktop and mobile applications
- Familiarity with common stacks
- Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)
- Knowledge of multiple back-end languages (e.g. C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)
- Familiarity with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design
Good to have skills
- Experience in developing a product that follows the SDLC and Agile methodologies
- Experience in image processing algorithms.
Specific qualifications
The applicant must be a former/returning student from Centennial College.
