At WIMTACH I worked with multiple applied research projects ranging from hospital web portal built in PHP to innovative technologies such as connecting heart rate sensors to RaspberryPi and communicate to a VR game interface. It was a very good time where I could put my skills and talent to test dealing with clients, innovation challenges and much more. It helped me to get integrated into Canadian workplace and to be prepared to achieve great results in the future. Applied research projects are a great experience for students to prepare themselves for the workplace and are a great first step in their careers.

WIMTACH has impacted my organizing skills a lot because never before in life have I worked in this environment where I get to work professionally with real people and a good amount of supervision. There was never pressure…it was up to us to figure out what worked best to solve problems. I would recommend WIMTACH to everyone I know because you’ll get a great experience with coding… Participating in WIMTACH’s project something you can put on your resume to help you find future jobs in the real field. I believe WIMTACH is the best thing you can [participate in] at the College.

When The Scarborough Hospital sought a strategic partner to achieve our organizational priority of “Innovation and Learning” we looked no further than to our neighbor, Centennial College. Centennial College and the WIMTACH have an incredible group of talented individuals, proven to be agile, responsive and incredibly dedicated to serving our shared community and it’s diverse needs. With technical skills and relationship management comparable to the private sector, we are pleased to work side by side with students at the cutting edge of the field.

Working with Centennial to create our iMINDFUL program was an enriching experience. We knew that we would need to better utilize the technology that is available to us, to increase access to quality care. The Centennial team that we worked with were able to transform the ideas we had into a reality. There was never any hesitancy on their part, and it is because of this team that we can now offer a much-needed service to a population in need.

“Working with the Centennial College WIMTACH Group (Wearable, Interactive and Mobile Technologies Access Centre in Healthcare) has afforded the TSH MNCC team an incredible opportunity to see what is “possible” through the lens of a remarkable team! Both TSH and Centennial experts came together as one “team” to build the concept and product that will go a long way in supporting our new mothers, infants, and families in ensuring they get the “Best Start”.”

This was definitely one of the better experiences I’ve had working with researchers and students. The two students that worked on the project were completely aligned with the overall objectives of the project, engaged and very responsive. I’m hoping to continue building the relationship I’ve foster with Centennial and start another project soon.

The team at WIMTACH exceeded our expectation with the development of our App. Their ability to transform our requirements into a user friendly interface allowed us to bring to market a professional App in less time than we initially expected. WIMTACH was able to provide technical advice and support throughout the process provided us with peace of mind that the project was well managed.

What I enjoy most about working for WIMTACH is that we work for real clients, with real-world problems. It’s gratifying to know how the solution you’ve been working on can help the client evolve.
